After School Study Club

SPARK Education offers a range of learning programmes to complement what pupils learn in the classroom.  A pupil's learning needs will vary; some may need only basic support, such as a structured learning environment at the Centre, with supervision, while others will need more specific structured schemes of work.

When pupils register for an After-School Learning Programme we conduct a brief interview with parents and pupils to ascertain the most appropriate programme. This might require a learning assessment to help decide the level of support required.

SPARK Education offers three distinct after-school learning programmes.

Basic After-School Learning Support which is provision of computerised learning programmes and assistance as required from a Homework Supervisor. This basic programme is suitable for pupils experiencing `mild` occasional difficulties in completing school homework assignments, or for pupils who have `fallen behind` with their learning as a consequence of school absences or similar obstacles to their learning.

Assessment

All Learning Sessions are monitored and recorded; if Pupils written work shows significant `gaps` in their learning, Parents will be notified and offered a  Basic Learning Functioning Assessment. This Assessment will identify the particular learning weaknesses which need to be rectified by more intensive learning support. This will be provided either by an Intermediate Support Programme or  a Tutorial Support Programme.

The Intermediate Support Programme  provides working individually or in small groups, with Teacher supervision and ; includes planned schemes of subject-specific work , 15 minutes of one-to-one teaching per session,  and monitored remedial  exercises. The Intermediate Support Programme is suitable for Pupils who are not attaining `target grades` in their school subjects,  or where Pupils need to improve current subject grades.

The Tutorial Support Programme provides intensive one-to-one Tuition by a qualified subject Teacher. This is a high-quality Learning Programme intended to `repair` identified learning `gaps` and `weaknesses`, and to improve Pupils subject grades. This programme is particularly suitable for Pupils preparing for GCE s or Entrance Examinations for Grammar or Independent Schools. Written Reports of Achievement are available for schools entrants if required.

These programmes are available from Monday to Friday, between 3.30 pm and 6.30pm, and Saturdays, between 9.30 am and 4.0 pm, at the SPAAK Centre located at the old Battle Hospital entrance, Oxford Road.  To arrange Tuition for your child, call the Centre Manager , 0118 986 3377 or 0118 951 3065
