EMAP is for children 5 to 18.

The main objectives are:

  • To provide support for these pupils in English, Science and Mathematics;
  • To motivate pupils to become less disaffected with education;
  • To provide appealing and realistic rewards;
  • To improve self-esteem;
  • To better prepare these youngsters for the world of work.

For example; African-Caribbean and Dual - Heritage children?
It is documented that African- Caribbean children are underachieving more than other minority community groups. In fact they are four times more likely to be excluded from school than their white counterparts.

This is mainly due to the following:

  • Lack of social recognition and a feeling of not belonging;
  • They perceive a lack of opportunities to progress and develop their skills on a fair basis;
  • Lack of positive role models in the communities;
  • Lack of parental support;
  • Poor Numeracy and Literacy skills(EAL)
  • Find institutional learning environments threatening
