Pupils are referred to SPAAK from Cranbury College, the recently established education cornerstone of Reading Borough Council's Children Education Support Service, local schools, social services and parents. Discussions are at an advanced stage with local schools, Education Welfare Service and the LEA and other agencies for referrals to us. Once contact is established, suitable teaching times are arranged with the parents or guardians.
The main objective of SPAAK is to provide the best possible education and support for the pupil until such time as they return to or gain admission in school. This is carried out by carefully selected LDD staffs that have wide ranging skills and specialist in the primary and secondary sectors. Pupils may attend our centre in groups to follow courses utilising VLE connected via our hardware or receive personalised teaching.
Older pupils receive careers guidance and work experience through Cranbury College, Connexions and can take a range of examinations to achieve standard qualifications.
